A combination-block cue: use both blockers to move the down lineman while both keep the linebacker in view. The hands part is taught less literally than the eyes part.
Four hands, four eyes reminds two linemen that a combination block has two jobs: move the down defender and read the linebacker. When the linebacker declares, the blocker with leverage to take him comes off and the other secures the first block. The eyes are the stable part of the cue; the hands are contested. Some coaches want all four hands on the down defender. Others use a shoulder or two-hand fit from the uncovered lineman so he does not turn his hips and arrive late to a fast linebacker.
