Wing-T Trap

Wing-T Trap gives the ball to the fullback inside while the halfback shows the same sweep action as Buck Sweep. The backside guard crosses the formation to trap the first defender outside the hole and open the fullback's cut.

The call

Backside guardstep over behind the center and cross block across the playside guard, trapping the first man outside the hole. The quick pull is the key to the play.
Fullbackstep straight ahead on the midline, take the handoff with the backside arm up, then bend playside and cut inside the trap block.
Halfbackfake the sweep to hold the perimeter. He carried this same path on buck sweep.
Quarterbackopen away from the hole, midline handoff to the fullback, then carry out the boot fake. Identical to his buck sweep action.
Playside guarddown block.
Centerdown block playside.
Playside tacklerip through any lineman head up or inside, then to the first inside linebacker toward the middle.
Tight endreach the C gap, work to the second level and seal the playside inside linebacker.
Wingbackblock inside, two or three steps before engaging.
Backside tackleseal inside.
Split endrelease and cut off the free safety.
