Bash Read

Bash Read inverts standard read-option mechanics by sending the running back away from the offensive line's pulling blockers on an outside sweep. The quarterback rides the mesh, reading the unblocked edge defender to give on the sweep or keep on Counter behind the pulling guard and tackle.

| Left guard | pull flat across the formation to kick out the frontside defensive end. |
| Left tackle | pull behind the left guard and wrap into the C-gap for the play-side linebacker. |
| R | cross Q's face, mesh with the quarterback and sweep wide left into open grass if given the ball. |
| Q keep | ride the mesh while reading the backside end. Pull and cut back right behind the pulling tackle once the end widens. |
Run it with
- Power ReadPower Read and Bash Read both threaten the perimeter with the back, but Bash inverts the line scheme to run Counter inside.
