Spread Option Speed Option attacks the perimeter immediately, with the quarterback pressing the unblocked end and the back maintaining pitch relationship outside. If the end widens with the back, the quarterback turns up; if the end commits to him, he pitches.

| Position | Responsibility |
|---|---|
| Q | attack the pitch key's inside shoulder. If he commits to Q, pitch to R. If he widens to R, turn up and keep. |
| Q keep | get vertical off the pitch key once he widens. Do not drift sideways and close R's pitch lane. |
| R | stay outside and slightly behind Q at pitch depth. Keep the relationship through the read rather than outrunning the pitch. |
| Left tackle | cut off the backside tackle. |
| Left guard | secure the backside tackle with the left tackle. |
| Center | reach the playside tackle with the right guard. |
| Right guard | secure the playside tackle with the center. |
| Right tackle | leave the end for Q and climb to the playside linebacker. |
| Y | arc outside the pitch key and block the next defender in the alley. |
